Tabernacles Lesson 3

Feast of Tabernacles written in Hebrew and English

In the Parable of the Kingdom in Luke 19:11-27 we see the order of events as follows.

Verse 12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Verse 15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom,
Verse 27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

The preceding feast, the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble”, is a time of terrible judgment.

The preceding feast, the "Time of Jacob's Trouble", is a time of terrible judgment.

Jesus comes back as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords with the armies of Heaven to slay His enemies.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. The Revelation 19:11-21

Satan is Bound

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.    Isaiah 14:12 Lucifer “Light-Bearer” llyh

The Biblical account of Satan going to the Bottomless Pit is seen in Isaiah 14:12- How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

Then Something Really Good Happens

And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: … And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
The Revelation 19:1-9

A great Sukkot covers the Earth with peace and harmony

When we discuss Christ’s return to Earth we most always hear that the “lion shall lie down with the lamb” but that is not exactly what the Hebrew Scripture says.

1,000 years of peace has come to the Earth Feast of Tabernacles

The Hebrew Scripture says: “The wolf shall also dwell with the lamb”

The Kingdom of Heaven Feast of Tabernacles

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

וגר זאב עם כבשׂ ונמר עם גדי ירבץ ועגל וכפיר ומריא יחדו ונער קטן נהג בם

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;   The following Scripture from Isaiah 2:4 seems to be the primary identifying marker that The Messiah has arrived. However the problem has always been that this condition can never take place until the heart of mankind has been changed. The Law of Moses did not change the heart of mankind, it taught the way to go and punished all that broke the slightest point.

And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

ושׁפט בין הגוים והוכיח לעמים רבים וכתתו חרבותם לאתים וחניתותיהם למזמרות לא ישׂא גוי אל גוי חרב ולא ילמדו עוד מלחמה

A new heart is required to enter the feast of Tabernacles

a great Sukkot will cover the Earth and peace will cover the Earth like the waters from the sea

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 35

 Long Life

There are many indications that the Feast of Sukkot, Tabernacles, will be much like the world was before the fall of mankind. There are also many indications that there will be many things happening as they did after the fall of mankind.

For one illustration, Jesus will rule with a rod of iron during that time.

Psalm 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

תרעם בשׁבט ברזל ככלי יוצר תנפצם

The following photograph is from a Scroll of Isaiah written in Poland in the 19th century. The yad (pointer) is showing Isaiah 65 verse 20 and the paragraph concludes with “the wolf and the lamb shall feed together …”

לא יהיה משׁם עוד עול ימים וזקן אשׁר לא־ימלא את־ימיו כי הנער בן־מאה שׁנה ימות והחוטא בן־מאה שׁנה יקלל

Isaiah 65:20 from a Hebrew Scroll of Isaiah written in Poland in the 19th century

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. Isaiah 65:20

If a person would be called a child at 100 years old it seems apparent that the length of life will be much longer during the millennium, perhaps people will live even to the ages on Genesis 5

  • And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
  • And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

This would quickly repopulate the Earth.

The Kingdom starts with just “born again” people on the Earth.

Sin will be limited … However

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

עקב הלב מכל ואנשׁ הוא מי ידענו

There will be sin during the millennium but it will be limited. Those born in the millennium will not be influenced by Satan because he is bound in the Bottomless Pit for this 1,000 years.

There will be very little influence by the world and others encouraging sin because Jesus will be ruling with a rod of iron and will put down sin, perhaps even before it is committed.
Perhaps the standard we see in the sermon on the mount will be the standard set in the Millennium. A kingdom with murder, theft, rape, cruelty, etc would hardly be different from what we presently have.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 21:22-27

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Psalm 2:9
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. Revelation 2:27

It is absolutely true that without the New Covenant, which changes the heart of mankind, that you will never be able to love God and stop sinning.

We will be ruling with the Messiah Jesus during the feast of tabernacles

One final test for the hearts of mankind

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelation 20:7-10

*”Those who rebel will be the descendants of believing Tribulation Survivors who will come into the Millennial Kingdom on Earth in their natural human state. Like all natural beings they will have a sin nature and will be no different from children of believers today. Some follow in the faith of their fathers while others don’t, even in the face of incredible blessing.

Natural man doesn’t need Satan to rebel against God. All he needs is a sin nature. Remember, Israel lived in the presence of God when He served as their King, and they rebelled, even when it meant choosing captivity over obedience. The future will be no different than the past. The lesson of the Millennium is there is no circumstance under which natural man can live a life pleasing to God.
*Quote taken from an unknown source

Satan deceives the children born during the Feast of Tabernacles

This rebellion is quickly stopped and Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire where the Beast and the False Prophet have been for the last 1,000 years. The Lake of Fire is not the Bottomless Pit and it is not anywhere near earth.

The Feast of Tabernacles is finished.

The temporary Sukkot are now dismantled and cast aside for the Eternal Home.

The 1,000 year reign of Christ is over and His eternal kingdom now changes where the temporal is passed away and all things are made new.

The temporary Sukkot are now dismantled and cast aside for the Eternal Home.

Eternity

1 Corinthians 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father;

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

New Heaven and New Earth

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Revelation 21:1

There are some who say this does not really mean a new Heaven and a new Earth, but one that has been cleaned up. When I was a child I wore hand-me-down clothing and there really is something different in new and used.

Why would it seem incredible to anyone that God simply meant what He said here. It seems like not believing what He said would limit the power of God to do whatever He wanted.

And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll. Isaiah 34:4

God created all the host of heaven in 24 hours

Very, very Sad

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:12-15

If you are judged according to your works you have no hope.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Revelation 21:5 – 8 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

It is either this

or

The New Jerusalem

The old palm branch sukka is gone, now comes the golden city

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me way in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. Revelation 21

The New Jerusalem is 1,364 miles wide, broad, and high 2,537,716,544 cubic miles

And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. Revelation 21

12,000 furlongs are equal to 1,364 miles or 2,182 kilometers
The city is a cube.

The Bible does not say the city will land on the Earth, perhaps it will. If it landed on America the Eastern wall of the city would rest on New Your City, The Western wall would settle on Denver, Colorado. The Northern wall would rest in Canada while the Southern wall would be in the Gulf of Mexico. The top of the city would go into space 1,364 miles.

The Bible does not say if the city will have floors, if it had floors every mile it would have 1,364 floors.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. John 14:1-4

If the New Jerusalem had one mile ceilings, it would duplicate itself 1,364 times.

In the 1970s wealthy Ted Turner the following about Heaven. The 52 year old multimillionaire said he rejected the idea of Heaven because “streets of gold and so forth turns me off”. That’s a shame, if the Creator made it it must be beautiful and a really nice place.

Revelation 21:19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

Some of the stones mentioned in Revelation 21:19 and 20 are very hard to identify, but they seem to be the same stones mentioned on the breastplate of the High Priest. There the stones represent the 12 tribes of Israel.

Exodus 19:10 And they set in it four rows of stones: the first row was a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this was the first row.  And the second row, an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. And the third row, a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. And the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper: they were inclosed in ouches of gold in their inclosings. And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes. And they made upon the breastplate chains at the ends, of wreathen work of pure gold.

The stones on the foundation of the New Jerusalem

Revelation 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl

The largest pearl ever found weighs 14.1 pounds. A pearl is formed when something irritates the mantle or inside of an oyster. The commonly held belief that a grain of sand acts as the irritant is in fact rarely the case. Typical stimuli include organic material, parasites, or even damage that displaces mantle tissue to another part of the mollusk’s body. These small particles or organisms gain entry when the shell valves are open for feeding or respiration.

The largest pearl ever found weighs 14.1 pounds and is 9.45 inches in diameter

Could it be the Lord chose to use giant pearls to act as gates to the most beautiful thing ever created to show those who He loves our suffering is brief but produces beauty?
